NEFAR Debuts Loss Mitigation/Foreclosure Certification Program
Certification program provides specialized instruction to Realtors on handling foreclosures, short sales and real-estate/bank-owned properties.

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) will debut a Loss Mitigation Certification program to its members on July 28 - 30 at the University Center, University of North Florida campus. The three-day program is recognized by the National Association of Realtors as the premier educational tool to teach Realtors how to work effectively with complicated transactions involving foreclosures, short sales, properties at auction, or real-estate-owned (aka bank-owned) properties.

Realtors who successfully complete the program earn a Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC) and are provided with a comprehensive 55-page manual, among other materials, that covers the complex subject matter. Course instructor Ulrich Leinhase, formerly of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is the owner of a Jacksonville-based real estate school and brokerage. He is also a faculty member of the Florida Association of Realtors' Realtors Institute and teaches pre-licensing, post-licensing and professional development courses.

In addition to classroom instruction, Realtors will hear from two guest speakers on July 30. April Charney, Esq., a leading expert on foreclosure defense, will present "Foreclosure Law/Procedure for Non-Lawyers." Charney was named the "Foreclosure Killer" by Forbes magazine, the "Angel of Foreclosure" by msnbc.com and the "Loan Ranger" by The New York Post. Anthony Hutchinson, Senior Policy Representative - Financial Services, National Association of Realtors, will discuss programs created by Congress and the administration to stimulate the housing market and address the housing crisis.

NEFAR President Millie Kanyar says, "Realtors are on the front lines in dealing with foreclosures and short sales in today's market. Arming our Realtor members with specialized knowledge to more effectively assist buyers and sellers navigating the complex process is one way we're working to help."

With registration for the July LMC program filling up within one day of announcement, NEFAR is now already planning a subsequent program offering in October.

The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors is headquartered in Jacksonville, with satellite service centers in Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach and Palatka. NEFAR is the largest professional/trade association in northeast Florida, serving more than 5,000 Realtor and affiliate/business partner members in Duval, Clay, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
