Northeast Florida Association of Realtors Donates $15,000 To Housing Partnership Of Northeast Florida

Realtor Association Furthers Commitment To Housing By Serving As Paint The Town Event Sponsor

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) has donated $15,000 to the Housing Partnership of Northeast Florida and will serve as the event sponsor of Paint the Town, a major neighborhood revitalization project.

Paint the Town is a major community service event to be held April 21-28 in the Magnolia Gardens neighborhood in north Jacksonville. During that time, approximately 1,000 volunteers, including several crews from NEFAR, will gather to paint 45 homes that have undergone extensive rehabilitation by the Housing Partnership.

The donation from the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors will assist the low income households in Magnolia Gardens that are in dire need of home rehabilitation, said Carolyn Wallace Ettlinger, President of the Housing Partnership. "We are most thankful for NEFAR's generous donation and its support for Paint the Town, "Ettlinger said. "Paint the Town helps to create a sense of pride among the residents of this community and preserves affordable housing for future generations."

NEFAR has been a staunch supporter of the Housing Partnership since 2004 when it formed a volunteer partnership called Realtors Ramp It Up! Since then, NEFAR Realtor and affiliate members have built approximately 70 wheelchair ramps for the physically disabled.

"NEFAR is extremely pleased to be the 2007 sponsor of Paint The Town and expand our joint projects with the Housing Partnership," says NEFAR President Hank Oltmanns. "Whether we're building wheelchair ramps or painting houses, our efforts serve our community and that's something about which Realtors feel strongly."

While Paint the Town won't occur for another week, home rehabilitation work has begun in the neighborhood. Housing Partnership staff and its contractors are visible throughout the neighborhood, installing new roofs and windows, and upgrading plumbing, electrical wiring and cabinetry to the selected homes.

The Housing Partnership of Northeast Florida is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate community development by offering a range of services that expands affordable housing for low and moderate-income families and improves the quality of life in Northeast Florida. More information on the Housing Partnership and Paint the Town can be found at www.thehousingpartnership.com.

The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors is headquartered in Jacksonville with satellite service centers in Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach and Palatka. NEFAR is the largest trade association in northeast Florida, serving more than 7,300 Realtor and affiliate members in Duval, Clay, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
