NEFAR was saddened to learn that two of its members, Julian “Bart” Colbert III and Timothy David Obi, passed away in July.
October 21, 1952 to July 25, 2021
A REALTOR® in Northeast Florida for the past 40 years, Colbert spent his last 15 years with Norville Realty in Ortega. An avid hunter, fisherman, and sports shooter, he was proud of his surfing prowess as a young man and his stint with the Barnum & Bailey Circus, where he learned to ride a trapeze and how to walk the high wire. He was also a 32-degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He served as both treasurer and master of Solomon Lodge #20 as well as treasurer for the Scottish Rite Library Educational Charities. Colbert was also a lifetime member of the Jacksonville Gun Club, where he served as safety director as well as an instructor who helped Scouts and disabled veterans. Colbert’s Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 31, at Ortega Church, 4807 Roosevelt Blvd. in Jacksonville, 32210 at 10 a.m.

A REALTOR® with Oceanside Real Estate in Jacksonville Beach, Obi, who was 36, passed away July 10 in an accident while scuba diving and spearfishing offshore. He was a Bishop Kenny High School graduate and a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction in 2008 and a Master of Science in Management in 2009. He also volunteered for the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps. In addition to being a REALTOR®, Obi also worked as a business relationship manager at JP Morgan Chase & Co. A memorial Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach will be held Saturday, July 31 at 1 p.m.
