Election Day: NEFAR members are needed to work polls

Election Day: NEFAR members are needed to work polls

Viewing REALTORS® as good community partners, the Supervisors of Elections in the four counties within our region reached out to the Northeast Florida Association of REALTORS® with a request that our association provide members to serve as poll workers. This year, there is a dire need for election workers to serve during the upcoming primary election on Tuesday, August 23, and during the general election on Tuesday, November 8.

Poll workers share a great similarity with NEFAR members in that they are all dedicated individuals who serve their community proudly. Poll workers have a very important role in the democratic process because their mission is to conduct our elections in a manner that assures public confidence in the accuracy, efficiency, and fairness of the election. This assignment coincides well with the mission of the REALTOR® Party to Vote, Act, Invest. REALTORS® are a natural fit to assist as election workers because of their desire to adhere to high ethical standards. Serving as poll workers is a way for REALTORS® to be active within their communities.

Among the duties of Northeast Florida election workers are ensuring that voters are at the correct precinct, verifying voter registration, issuing ballots, giving voting procedure instructions, operating voting equipment, and helping maintain an orderly flow at the polling place.
