The REALTOR® commitment to diversity and equality is perhaps the strongest in real estate, going even further than the federal Fair Housing Act. At Home With Diversity® (AHWD) is a certification program designed teach REALTORS® how to negotiate cultural barriers within the rapidly changing real estate industry. The class helps REALTORS® develop diversity sensitivity and a better understanding of how U.S. fair housing laws impact their real estate business. By taking the class, REALTORS® are better able to develop professional guidelines for working with people in an increasingly multicultural real estate marketplace.
Since 1998, the At Home With Diversity program has prepared more than 20,000 REALTORS® to work effectively with an increasingly diverse pool of homebuyers.
"I have personally taken this class three times, and every time I learn something new that I can incorporate into my business model. Recognizing social and cultural differences, and how they create unconscious biases in all of us, is the first step towards becoming a more understanding agent and person." – Gonzalo Mejia
