NEFAR Helps Feed The Hungry

A NEFAR Community Affairs Event
May 11, 2017 - Morrocco Shrine Center, 3800 St. Johns Bluff Rd. S., Jacksonville

Join us in supporting a 50,000 meal donation and meal packing event by 200 NEFAR members on May 11.

With 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 children affected, hunger is a very real problem in Northeast Florida. Not limited to panhandlers or vagrants, it often flies under the radar, showing up in families or individuals who do not fit what Americans might imagine from films or pictures in National Geographic. Hunger is also a thief, not satisfied with simply stealing physical and mental health, but also robbing people of clarity, purpose and respect.

Partnering with HungerFight, and through your help, we step up to fight hunger in our area! Thirteen teams of volunteers will pack 50,000 meals on May 11. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the meal packing should last no more than two hours, after which all volunteers will enjoy the success and camaraderie that doing good brings, along with a pizza lunch!

Each team has been asked to raise funds in addition to volunteers. The money raised buys the food that is packed. Here's the magic:
$250 buys 1,000 meals / $100 buys 400 meals / $50 buys 200 meals!

All donations go through NEFAR's Charitable Foundation and are tax deductible. Donors who contribute $250 or more will be recognized on Facebook / NEFARScoop, Twitter / @NEFARScoop, at the May 12 general meeting, and on this event page - see donor list at bottom; please give them a hand!
