In addition to the wealth of knowledge Realtors must possess to stay abreast of the ever-changing real estate market, many Realtors take advanced training courses to become specialists in selected areas and enhance their service levels to their clients. Available to Realtors only, these designations are conferred by the National Association of Realtors after successful completion of course work, testing and expertise by the Realtor.

 

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has nine affiliated Institutes, Societies, and Councils that provide a wide-ranging menu of programs and services that increase a Realtor's skills, productivity and knowledge. In addition, NAR offers five certification programs to its members.

 

ABR, Accredited Buyer Representative
With more than 40,000 members, the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC) is the largest association of real estate professionals focusing on all aspects of buyer representation. ABRM, Accredited Buyer Representative Manager

ALC, Accredited Land Consultant

CCIM, Certified Commercial Investment Member
CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, valuation and investment analysis. CIPS, Certified International Property Specialist

CRB, Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager
The Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) designation is recognized industry-wide as the measure of success in brokerage and real estate business management. The designation is awarded by the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers to Realtors who have completed the Council's advanced educational and professional requirements. CRS, Certified Residential Specialist

CRE, Counselor of Real Estate
The Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) designation is part of an international group of recognized professionals who provide seasoned, objective advice on real property and land-related matters. GAA, General Accredited Appraiser

GREEN Designation
The NAR GREEN designation is the definition of green professionalism, excellence and leadership for today's real estate practitioners. Specifically designed to address the educational needs of practitioners in residential, commercial and property management markets, this training program is a true cross-over designation and the only green designation recognized by NAR. GRI, Graduate Realtor Institute
Realtors who opt for an enhanced level and solid foundation of residential real estate knowledge choose to earn the GRI designation.

 

PMN, Performance Management Network
The Performance Management Network (PMN) gives Realtors real-world skills, know-how and tools to stay on top of the changing market. Individuals certified with the SIOR designation are top producers in industrial and office real estate brokerage.
